  2. Post-doctoral fellow at the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics at Karolinska Institutet in Dr. Craig Wheelock’s group. The project involved developing LC/MS based methods for isolating and quantifying oxidized fatty acid mediators in clinical samples. The main research goal was to identify and follow progress of disease via individual mediators and in specific metabolic pathways with focus on respiratory diseases.

Project description:

Method development of both bottom up and top down analysis of glycosylated proteins with a primary focus on IgG glycosylation patterns on the fc region of mono- and polyclonal antibodies, both isolated and by direct screening in clinical samples.  The glycoform profile of normal polyclonal IgG is known to vary in a number of inflammatory conditions, with truncated glycoforms being more prevalent in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and other inflammatory diseases. The aim is to develop methods to 1) determine how the glycan structures change during different pathological events, 2) investigate if they can be used for diagnostic purposes to follow disease progression and 3) to use the methodology developed for glycopeptide IgG characterization to expand into broader screening of N- an O-linked glycosylated peptides and proteins.
